My Grandmother collected bears. My mother says it started with a mink bear they gave her one year. It had come with some jewelry and grandma really liked the bear. As people found out she collected bears her collection grew quite large with all sizes, shapes and types of bears. Some from near by and some from far away. Many reflected holidays, Grandpa's love of fishing or things Grandma loved. At the luncheon after the funeral each great grand go to pick out a bear to keep to remember her by. This is my kids in front of Grandma's house with the bears they picked. As they said "it will be something they will keep forever".
